Graubünden – probably the most beautiful, but definitely the biggest canton in Switzerland. And it’s full of beautiful mountain passes! Juliarpass, Fluelapass – and the small, but beautiful Albulapass. This is where the BMW M140i feels fully at home.
Our drive starts in Filisur, following the river Albula up to the small village of Bergün. But first we need to climb a few meters, following the rhaetian railway up to Bergün. The 6-zylinder, B58 engine is screaming its song, this is what its built for.
It’s only after Bergün that the real ascent begins – the road climbs up the mountain, crossing the Albula and under the highest track of the Rhaetian Railway. The car feels as if it’s glued to the asphalt, the roads are in usual perfect swiss condition.
In case you try to visit Albula pass in Winter: The road is closed, but you can sled it down from Preda to Bergün. Simply take the railway up there!
Before you reach the peak of the pass, there is a noteworthy photo location: Lai da Palpuogna, you may know it from postcards from Graubünden. It’s breathtakingly beautiful!
Almost at the top! On the last few meters, the B58-engine can show its’ raw power!
